Our founder David H. McConnell was a pioneer, progressive and who was a champion for women.

He started out as a travelling book sales person, offering free beauty products as a free gift until he realised customers wanted the free beauty samples more than the books themselves!

​

In 1886, McConnell mixed the first ever fragrance in a New York office and, in a radical move for the time, recruited a team of vibrant women to be his sales Representatives and giving them economic freedom.

​

We believe in the beauty of doing good, in addressing the challenges of rapid climate change, ensuring equality and inclusion, and ending animal testing. And we’re not doing this alone. Across the world, we’re striving to be the company that does things differently to make a difference.

As the first global cosmetics company to end animal testing, becoming Leaping Bunny approved underlines Avon’s 30-year commitment to animal welfare. We are proud to say that all Avon beauty and personal care products are approved as officially cruelty free under the Leaping Bunny Programme.
