As a child, I always had a passion for creating things, one thing led to another and then I found the sewing machine. After turning my jeans and school trousers into 'drain-pipes' in the early 80's, dressmaking was followed by cross stitch.
After a visit in 2006 to Amish Country in Pennsylvania and bringing home my very own Amish Quilt, I found that patch-working and quilting was something I wanted to try. 7 years of classes later, I am still hooked and passionate and have created many quilts and cushions covers. I learnt so much more about sewing during the classes and acquired an embroidery sewing machine. This is turn has pushed my boundaries into machine sewn and hand sewn what-nots. 4 years later, I traded in my embroidery machine for a bigger and better machine with a larger stitching area.
After my first child was born in the 1990's, I got into making hand made cards right at the start of the current craft revolution. After buying computer software I found another way to be creative using graphics and designing cards. 20 years on and I'm still designing and selling cards. I am self taught in most that I do and am very proud of what I have achieved over the last 30 years.
After being made redundant in 2012, I decided to turn something not so good into the opportunity to go self-employed and follow my own path - 5 years on - life is looking good!
My long term aim is to be able to turn what started as a hobby into a paying business and be able to make a living out of what I enjoy doing.
